Arrival Excitement
After two days of canceled ports, the anticipation was palpable as we docked in Cozumel around 4:30 p.m. We had to wait for other scheduled ships to depart before disembarking, which only heightened our excitement. The atmosphere felt like that of sailors after a long voyage, eager to unwind and explore the new surroundings.
First Impressions
Upon disembarking, passengers meandered aimlessly, unsure of where to go since this was a last-minute stop. Taxis were scarce, leading to a night of spontaneous exploration. We had heard about an Asian restaurant favored by crew members, but it was closed when we arrived. The shops near the port were primarily geared toward cruise passengers and were eerily quiet, giving the area a ghost town vibe. Even well-known spots like Señor Frog's were shuttered.
Dining Adventure
Eventually, we discovered that the Asian restaurant, Che Asian Cuisine, was open. The food exceeded our expectations, featuring delicious and surprisingly spicy dishes. The casual atmosphere was enhanced by practical amenities like power strips for charging devices—a thoughtful touch for travelers.
Local Amenities
Downstairs from the restaurant, we stumbled upon a well-stocked sundries store, perfect for picking up snacks and travel necessities. I even found some stylish UV protective sleeves that were inexpensive and added a cool flair to my look.
Nightlife and Atmosphere
With no concerns about returning to the ship, the night came alive with clubgoers enjoying the vibrant nightlife. Despite the earlier challenges, we managed to create our own fun, experiencing a taste of crew life and the local scene.
